Smith ahead by one halfway through the third round
The third round was suspended due to darkness at 7:50 pm. Play will begin at 7:30 am Friday. At the conclusion of round-three the top 70 players and ties will advance to the fourth and final round.
Miami, Fla. -- (August 2, 2012) On another day where players ran out of light, American Byron Smith was able to complete nine holes of his third round and maintain his lead in PGA TOUR Latinoamérica’s Q-school at Doral Golf Resort & Spa.
Smith shot a 1-under 34 for a 10-under par total at the Great White Course at Doral.
Smith’s three shot lead at the beginning of the third round was reduced to just one shot over Venezuelan Felipe Velazquez who was at 9-under par after completing eight.
Brazilian Philippe Gasnier is in third place alone after making three birdies and just one bogey for a front nine 33.
Play went on uninterrupted today but due to the weather delays of the past three days players have yet to complete their third rounds.
The third round was officially suspended due to darkness at 7:50 p.m. Players will be in position to resume their third round at 7:30 am. At the conclusion of the third round the top 70 players and ties will advance to the final round and a chance at PGA TOUR Latinoamérica membership. The top-15 players at the conclusion of the event will earn PGA TOUR Latinoamérica membership.
The fourth round is expected to begin play between 10:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.
