Tyler McCumber receives OHL Round of the Week

His round of 66 on Saturday was the best of the Trans American Power Products CRV Mazatlan Open

Mazatlan, Mexico (October 13, 2014).- His third-round 66 (6 under) gave Tyler McCumber the OHL Round of the Week award and was the springboard to win the Trans American Power Products CRV Mazatlan Open, his second win in the last three weeks on the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica.

On a course that required the full attention of the players due to various external factors, McCumber was solid and patient to take his chances.

He started Saturday five shots out of the lead, but the winner of the All You Need Is Open Ecuador had a run of five birdies between Nos. 6-12 that brought him to the top and allowed him to dream of a new title. At No. 13 he made his only bogey of the day, but closed with birdies at Nos. 16 and 18 to lead after 54 holes at at Estrella del Mar Golf & Beach Resort Condos.

"I hit it particularly well and holed good putts. It was important to stay positive," said the 23-year-old after his round in Mazatlan.

James Vargas also scored a 66 on Saturday, but the tiebreaker favored McCumber (best position at the end of the tournament).

This is only the second time that the winner of OHL Round of the Week Award went to the tournament champion. William Kropp took the honor at the ABierto OSDE del Centor, played in Córdoba, Argentina.
