Montevideo, Uruguay (April 28, 2014) - The Club de Golf de Uruguay is a generous course full of birdies, and the players that played Robert De Vicenzo Invitational Copa NEC took advantage of that. Throughout the week there were seven players who shot 7-under 65, but Robert Rohanna won the OHL award.
The tiebreaker in this case favored who finished better at the end of the tournament, and the player from Pennsylvania finished third thanks to a final round of 68.
But the round that gave the award to Robert Rohanna came Saturday, when the 27-year-old had two eagles, five birdies and two bogeys to climb the leaderboard en route to what was his second top three of the season.
After four consecutive pars to start the round, the Penn State graduate scored an eagle on the fifth hole. The bogey at No. 7 did not stop Rohanna, who made three consecutive birdies at Nos. 8, 9 and 10 and then another eagle on No. 12. He bogeyed No. 13, but then finished his round with birdies at Nos. 14 and 17 that put him in the fight for the tournament.
It was Rohanna’s first time winning the award, which comes with a $1,000 check that OHL gives away each week. He beat six other players who shot 65: Emilio Domínguez (Argentina) , Russell Surber (USA) , Jack Zarlenga (Argentina) , Austin Graham (USA), Marcelo Rozo (Colombia) and Rick Cochran III (USA).
