Cordoba, Argentina (April 21, 2014) -. With an almost perfect round on Friday William Kropp went from an uncertain start in the tournament to the the possibility to fight for the championship that finally stay in his hands. That round of 66, five under par, at the Córdoba Golf Club, allowed him to not only make the cut but also get in the fight for the 83° Abierto OSDE del Centro, presented by FiberCorp.
Thanks to the Friday round that had six birides and just one bogey the player born in Indianapolis took the OHL Round of the Week Award, which is given to the lowest score of the week. Kropp did the same score that Argentines Cesar Costilla (1st Round) and Fermín Noste (2nd round), but the playoff system gives the award to the player that finishes in the best position in case of ties.
Kropp had started the tournament with a 73, two over par, that left him far from leader Costilla. But his excellent round began that Friday very early in the 10th hole. At 11 he found his first birdie of the day, but he scored his only bogey of the round on the 13th hole. For the only time in the tournament he birdied the par-3 14th, but he kept the best for his back nine.
There, the 24 years that studied at the University of Oklahoma, began building his way to the championship. he started with a birdie on the difficult par-4 3rd , then birdied 5 and 7 to finish with a great birdie at 9 that left him at the third place on Friday.
Then he posted rounds of 68 and 69 to take the title, beating no more and no less than Angel Cabrera at home.
