Lima, Peru (November 10, 2013) – A terrific round of 9-under par 63 that matched the Los Inkas Golf Club’s course record last Friday allowed Argentina’s Gato Zarlenga to claim the OHL-Round of the Week Award at the conclusion of the 2013 Lexus Peru Open.

The 23-year old from Tucuman, Argentina made two eagles, six birdies and only one bogey for a round that gave him the halfway lead of the event. He slowed down over the final two days to share the 19th spot for his best finish on Tour this season.

On his way to the week’s low score that eventually secured him a $1,000 check courtesy of OHL, Zarlenga got off to a hot start of four birdies on his first five holes, starting from No. 10. “I hit three very good shots and that gave me a little peace of mind to continue attacking and trying to climb as much as I could,” he said about a front nine in which his only mistake was a bogey on 17, his eighth hole.

His charge continued at the third hole, a 514-yard par 5, where he followed his driver off the tee with a terrific 7-iron from 202 yards. The ball rested just a couple of feet away and he made the eagle putt. After a birdie on No. 5, his strong run continued with another eagle at the par-4 seventh, where he holed out a 60-degree wedge from 75 yards. A birdie on No. 8, his 17th hole, capped off his day.

“This was one of the best rounds of my career. It was actually my lowest score as a professional,” Zarlenga said about a round that helped him collect his first top-25 finish in eleven Tour starts this season.
